Doherty Lynch was engaged to redesign the interior of a stately Victorian home, which overlooks a park. The brief was to create a smart, sophisticated, elegant home in which the clients could make a home for their growing family
Key to the success of this project was to provide a fluid connection between the old stately house and the contemporary renovation so that the home didn’t have an abrupt start and stop. Features were speciality and natural lighting, bespoke detail in joinery and refined furnishings.
In keeping with the brief for a contemporary, but sophisticated and elegant home, a timeless interiors palette was built through colour and furnishings. Doherty Lynch used neutral finishes with splashes of colour, especially in the children’s areas, and stronger colour elements, such as black accents in the kitchen and living areas. Bespoke book shelving is a feature of the home and wraps around walls while being sympathetic to the history of the home, and remaining relevant to a modern family. Furnishings, textured fabrics and intricate rugs were introduced in a refined palette to update the home, while not alienating the original design of the house.
